Challenges

Block of 6 units on busy, main street. Limited budget. Deep excavation of basement/car park on level block with close proximity to ground water and neighbouring properties. Structural steel curved roof in high wind area. Mixture of external finishes (painted render and face brick). Dark bricks with dark mortar. Curved internal ceilings on top floor. Internal access from basement required for all units.

Outcomes

Unorthodox looking building with dark face brick and curved roof has positively changed the streetscape and set a new standard of design and construction for the area.
